[00:00:24] This is the Thinking Effect, where we help you do, you're daily best, not me, holds Tom Danger this week.
[00:00:31] Now I know you've been thinking about starting a podcast, so you got this idea and you're kind of struggling with it
[00:00:38] and you procrastinating about what you should do.
[00:00:41] Well, this week we're going to talk about the five things that you need to do to get started.
[00:00:47] Stay tuned.
[00:00:48] Thank you so much for tuning in.
[00:00:50] Please like, subscribe and share.
[00:00:54] And as always, I thank you so much for listening to the podcast.
[00:01:00] Happy to see it toward the end of the year.
[00:01:06] You know, give yourself a round of applause for making it just for waking up this morning.
[00:01:12] You know, I know sometimes we get bogged down with life and, you know, stuff just seems to weigh heavy.
[00:01:22] We always try to figure out what's the next move and what's the next play and all that stuff.
[00:01:29] But just the fact that being present in itself is something to be applauded.
[00:01:35] So, you know, give yourself a big old pattern of bad, just showing up.
[00:01:43] A couple things.
[00:01:46] If you haven't heard already, I do have a new album out.
[00:01:49] This motivation and confidence volume two is on all streaming platforms.
[00:01:53] There's also a book, motivation and confidence building up your confidence.
[00:01:58] And I also have a free, many, many, many course.
[00:02:03] So, free, many course.
[00:02:04] It's how to improve your confidence in seven steps.
[00:02:09] I'll leave the links in the biofeed to check out.
[00:02:12] But, you know, I went out to dinner with some family this past weekend.
[00:02:19] And it was an interesting conversation because I started talking about social media and how, you know, we all have a voice and how you can use your voice to one be heard.
[00:02:36] But, but, second of it to make you some money.
[00:02:39] And then all depends on what you want to do and how you want to do it.
[00:02:45] So, for those of you who don't know, I started out this podcast as a way to document and self,
[00:02:58] that's the way I'm looking for.
[00:03:01] I was looking for a way to express my emotions in a healthy way without going into depression while my mom was sick.
[00:03:09] Even though she's passed away now, you know.
[00:03:12] So, and in one selfish mind, I could have said, well, you know, podcast over, you know, that journey is done.
[00:03:19] But, I realized that there are some of you who reach out to me in which the voice matters.
[00:03:25] So, I continue to be here to serve you and I'm on it to thank you and I don't take it lightly.
[00:03:35] But in going out, I realize, in talking to some people, I have to be careful that certain people don't have the fire that I have.
[00:03:45] I have the type of fire to where if I don't know, I'm going to figure it out.
[00:03:53] I care a little bit about what people think, but not as much as what most people may think.
[00:04:00] I like to just jump in hands on if you notice sometimes in a podcast the audio sound a little different.
[00:04:09] I may start recording and I have this lovely microphone here or I may have a particular camera.
[00:04:16] And on that particular day, I may not have access to this mic or something technical may go wrong with this microphone.
[00:04:22] I may not have the same camera, but I'm a firm believer in the message.
[00:04:28] So if the message is being brought across to you and you can hear it, right?
[00:04:33] I don't really think you care whether or not I use the show of microphone, the blue yaddy, the headphones or the camera microphone,
[00:04:40] or the lavalier microphone.
[00:04:42] I have all of these.
[00:04:43] I have every gadget in the world so when people hit me with technical stuff like, oh, well, maybe you should just like, I just want to,
[00:04:49] I just want to kick it with the people.
[00:04:52] And I would like to give those of you who may want to start a podcast, just a couple of small pointers.
[00:05:04] The first thing is a concept.
[00:05:06] So think about what it is that you want to talk about.
[00:05:12] I like to say if you're not sure on what to talk about, I would narrow it down to these two things.
[00:05:18] One, give your perspective on current events or two, talk about your everyday life and what's going on.
[00:05:32] Because as much as you think that people think that it's born, it's not.
[00:05:36] It's very interesting to hear how other people spend their day and organize their day and just handle the things that they go through.
[00:05:44] So think about what you want to talk about.
[00:05:46] The second thing is, identify the name of the show.
[00:05:54] And I think the name of the show, you want to get like a little deep as you want to think about who you're talking to and how you're talking to them.
[00:06:01] When we first started out motivation and confidence was a very popular term in over the years.
[00:06:07] You got even more popular and then a word.
[00:06:10] Motivation or everybody became a motivational speaker, it just sort of no one took it serious.
[00:06:16] So we had to rebrand it and think of personal values.
[00:06:21] So you can think of what personal values you have.
[00:06:24] And if you're not sure about your values, always talk about the assessment, but you can Google any assessment person who's talking about.
[00:06:30] Any assessment person who values assessment, you take it.
[00:06:33] Takes about five to ten minutes and it'll tell you what values you hold near to you and sort of how you think and how you can attach your values to your podcast and you know.
[00:06:46] Parlay that into the name and a tagline, the thinking effect.
[00:06:51] We help you do your daily bus.
[00:06:53] That's really part of my values and how my mind works.
[00:06:57] I think about what platform you want to use for distribution.
[00:07:02] I've been using speaker for, I guess almost six years now because it's a mobile app and at the time I just wanted something that I could use really quickly but over time they've morphed or grown into a pretty.
[00:07:18] I think that's a very accessible platform with some cool bells and whistles so you can get your spotify apple title any place where the other major podcasts or broadcasts or distributed.
[00:07:29] You can go through there to have a free, I think they have a free starter program but I use one that's like 20 bucks a month or whatever gets you X amount of gigabytes.
[00:07:38] And it allows for people to advertise.
[00:07:41] You can say don't come into the idea wanting to make money straight off the bat.
[00:07:49] You can but I would say like really build with the audience first before you try to sell anything because then otherwise you just come off like a little cheesy.
[00:08:00] So get your platform and then you want to think about what type of device that you want to use to record on do you want to.
[00:08:08] You have money to burn do you want to go to a studio and record it they have podcast studios now do you want to do it in home like I have you know my microphone running into my laptop I used to do it into my tablet started out with a blue yetty microphone pretty standard since then updated to this sure because the S M 57.
[00:08:29] It's a better microphone.
[00:08:33] You're very visual and it's good for social media to record the podcast because then you can take little snippets and put it out.
[00:08:40] You could also transcribe the podcast and then you have show notes or blog posts and you can make tweet from it so that's another little hack that I use.
[00:08:50] But it's mainly a microphone and a device to record the audio and if you don't have anything at all just use your phone.
[00:08:58] You used to use these my earbuds because you can have it close to your face.
[00:09:03] And be consistent.
[00:09:07] Think about if you want to have guests on the show or if you want to have it sort of like a monologue like I do.
[00:09:14] Some people find a monologue a little bit challenging because it's sort of like talking to yourself but I never feel like I'm talking to myself because I know I'm speaking to you and I know that I'm answering.
[00:09:25] The questions based on conversations that I've had or comments that I'll see people leave.
[00:09:35] So I know that I'm speaking to that and then you just have to you know set a goal like when you start out like don't just do one like I would say start with the minimum of four episodes.
[00:09:48] I would say don't make them less than five minutes and no longer than 40 minutes to an hour anything longer than that is it's kind of tough to bear along with so you don't want to lose your your listenership.
[00:10:01] And see how it goes see how you like it, you know you don't need to have a whole bunch of stuff you just need to have an idea and I think the most important thing to it is and this is not you know throwing out throwing around.
[00:10:17] Throwing around a buzzword but be authentic like really really be yourself like how do you speak you don't have to.
[00:10:23] Cater to anyone this is this is your platform is your show it's your voice we want to hear your perspective about things and every time you turn on this camera this microphone just show up and be you and you'll add value to somebody else's life.
[00:10:39] There's something that you like for me to discuss on the podcast please let me know the contact form is in the show notes, but if you want to hit me directly.

[00:10:55] At gmail.com you can hit me up that way and as always thank you so much for tuning in this is the thinking effect will we help you do your daily best.
